CAMPUS
Issue 11, May 2022

CEO's welcome

Welcome to the first edition of Campus for 2022, a year that marks the 50th Anniversary of The George Alexander Foundation, and the 20th Anniversary of the Scholarship Program.

It is a busy year for the GAF team, who have been developing new initiatives to celebrate these milestones with our community. You may have noticed our newsletter’s new look. One of these initiatives is the design and rollout of a refreshed visual identity for the Foundation. An animation of the 50th Anniversary edition of our new logo can be seen above. Our new visual identity reflects the Foundation’s growth over the past 50 years while maintaining George’s recognisable signature to honour his legacy and the ideas and values which continue to guide the Foundation’s Vision & Mission to this day.

The nature of a legacy is a topic we will ponder at this year’s mid-year online event ‘Creating a Legacy’. The event will celebrate both the 50-year milestone and the bright future ahead for our community. We hope you can join us for this wonderful opportunity to connect with each other from across Australia.

I hope you enjoy this refreshed edition of Campus, which includes the latest updates from our community and the Foundation, such as our newest scholars, GAF stories, our mid-year event ‘Creating a Legacy’, and more.

Lastly, I want to welcome the 83 new scholars that have joined the GAF community in 2022. Our team, Program Manager Mairead Phillips and Communications & Engagement Coordinator Nina Beer were delighted to meet some of you at the 2022 Welcome Workshop.

I wish you all the best with your studies and professional endeavours, and I look forward to catching up with you throughout 2022.
