Under his leadership, the Foundation has awarded 1165 scholarships and 469 fellowships to ensure young people across Australia can access opportunities to succeed.
Charles Goode reflected on his tenure as Chairman, saying, "I am extremely proud of everything the Foundation has accomplished during my time as Governor and Chairman.
It has been remarkable to see the Foundation's growth and the progression and strategic development of its mission.
Thank you to my fellow Governors for their expertise, guidance and friendship over the years. Your support should not be underestimated, and I greatly value it. I am also immensely proud of the very professional staff the Foundation has had over my time as Chairman."
Current Board member Mr Craig Drummond will assume the role of Chair from 18 April 2024.
Of his appointment, Craig Drummond said, "Charles Goode has made an extraordinary contribution to the Australian community as Chairman of The George Alexander Foundation and The Ian Potter Foundation - one of this country's oldest philanthropic foundations. I have greatly admired Charles and sought his counsel over many years. So, I am glad Charles has agreed to remain as Emeritus Chairman, allowing us all to continue to benefit from his wisdom. On behalf of the Foundation's Board of Governors, I thank Charles for his immense contribution to the Australian philanthropic sector, and I look forward to working with him for many years to come."
Craig Drummond joined the Boards of The George Alexander Foundation and The Ian Potter Foundation in 2021. He is also currently President of the Geelong Football Club Limited, Chairman of Transurban Co Ltd, and Chairman of the Australian Foundation Investment Company.
