The George Alexander Foundation Study Support Scholarship Program at The Gordon

The George Alexander Foundation Study Support Scholarship Program commenced at The Gordon in 2007 to assist students with study and living costs while undertaking Technical and Further Education (TAFE) studies.

Seven scholarships are awarded annually, each valued at $7,000.

The scholarships are open to students commencing full-time studies in a certificate, diploma or advanced diploma course at The Gordon, Geelong.

All GAF scholarships recognise students who can demonstrate academic merit, community involvement and leadership capability.

I cannot speak highly enough of all those involved in creating an opportunity that allows someone like myself to simply complete their studies. Becoming a recipient of a GAF scholarship is the greatest achievement I have made this year.

The Scholarship Program at The Gordon had particular significance for George Alexander. He completed his 'A' grade mechanics certificate at The Gordon (then known as The Gordon Institute of Technology) in the 1930s. He later taught other aspiring motor mechanics at The Gordon until the announcement of the Second World War in 1939.
